Ag in the Classroom is a program designed to expose and educate students in K-12 schools about the beef and agriculture industries. 6 years ago, SLOCCW began a unique version of Ag in the Classroom. Approximately 4 times a year, the Ag in the Classroom chairperson will visit agriculture classes at high schools across the county with guest speakers. These speakers possess careers either in the beef industry or in an allied industry designed to support local farmers and ranchers. The purpose of this program is to also provide students with an opportunity to become aware of potential, future careers in agriculture in their area prior to graduation from high school.

SLOCCW members, Wendy Scribner and Grace Peek had a wonderful time showing the students at Georgia Brown Elementary different aspects of the beef industry at the school’s STEAM night!

Our Ag in the Classroom Committee is on the move! Yesterday Officers Brett Mobley and Chelsea Edwards with the SLO Sheriff’s Department went with Ag in the Classroom Chair, Tracy Nicholson to visit students at Morro Bay High and SLO High about a career as a Rural Crime Officer. The students were very attentive and asked great questions. A major goal of SLOCCW’s Ag in The Classroom program is to expose local high school students to careers that are either directly in or in support of agriculture.
